Why Exflooder?
Exflooder
- High specific weight of 900 g/m²
- Faster filling, thanks to the use of a 3″ connection with Storz 75
- Rapid emptying: 90 cm diameter – flange 146 mm; 45 cm diameter – 2 x Storz 52
- Exflooder flood sleeves are available in diameters: 90 and 45 cm
- Simple barrier connection system, whereby one barrier slides into another, such that the connection between them cannot be broken
- The barriers can be anchored, making the entire barrier stable in case of high water pressure
- 2 vents
Standard elastic barrier
- Low specific weight 650 g/m²
- Filling: 2″ connection with Storz 52
- Emptying: 1 x Storz 52
- Small diameter barriers available
- Difficulty in joining barriers
- Single use
- Difficult in fixing to the ground
- 1 vent
Exflooder Flood barrier elements
Barrier operating principles
The Exflooder flood barrier works by filling a flexible sleeve made of durable PVC fabric with water. Once deployed at the site, the barrier adapts to the flat ground to form a tight flood barrier. Water fills the barrier, imparting it with stability and the ability to stop incoming water. The barrier components can be connected using clamping sleeves, enabling the construction of long protective dykes. Drainage takes place via a large drain flange, making it easy to dismantle and prepare the barrier for re-use. Exflooder flood barriers require anchoring to the ground. Depending on the ground type (e.g. soil, sand, asphalt, concrete), the correct length and type of anchor must be selected to ensure barrier stability.
How to fill the sleeve
- Check the area – remove any sharp items e.g. stones, glass, branches that may damage the barrier.
- Place the sensor in a suitable location
- Unroll it.
- Fill with water, using a suitable filling connection.
- Use anchors to stabilise the barrier or spread 2-3 sandbags along the barrier instead.
- After the barrier is used, empty it and clear it of adhering elements e.g. grass, branches.
Connecting flood barriers
Connecting Exflooder flexible flood barriers is simple and involves placing one end of the barrier in the sleeve of the next one. After filling, the sleeve clamps on the dam inside it, creating a tight connection. This makes it possible to build flood embankments of any length, with obtuse-angle connections.
Who is the flexible flood barrier NOT intended for?
Although Exflooder flexible flood barriers are a versatile and effective solution, they are not suitable for every situation.
- They are not suitable at very sharp or uneven surfaces: If the protected area is full of sharp stones, glass shards or other elements which may damage the material, the damage may not fulfil its intended use. In such cases, it may be necessary to prepare the ground in advance.
- In permanent flood defences: If you are looking for a permanent solution, the flexible barrier is not suitable, as despite its durability, it is designed as a mobile system used in ad hoc interventions. Steel or concrete flood barriers may be better as permanent protection.
- At locations without access to water: Flexible barriers must be filled with water, thus at locations where it cannot be delivered quickly (e.g. at extremely remote, dry areas), their use may be problematic.
The knowledge of when a flexible barrier is not the optimal solution allows the protection tools to be better adapted to the individual needs. In thes case of questions, our advisers will gladly help toy find the optimal solution (contact)
